Every Thistle Soapery bar is handmade in small batches using independently safety-assessed cosmetic formulations. Our soap recipes are vegan, cruelty-free and made without palm oil.
Because our soaps are handmade, their colours, patterns and surface details may vary slightly between batches. These natural variations do not affect the quality or performance of the soap.

Understanding Our Soap Ingredients
What does INCI mean?
INCI stands for International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients. It is the standard naming system used for cosmetic ingredients, allowing customers to identify ingredients consistently across different products and countries.
Why do many ingredients begin with “Sodium”?
Names such as Sodium Olivate and Sodium Cocoate describe plant oils after they have reacted with sodium hydroxide during the traditional soap-making process. This process is known as saponification and transforms the oils into soap.
What does Parfum mean?
Parfum is the INCI term for a fragrance blend. Any declarable fragrance allergens are shown separately within the relevant ingredient list where required.
What are CI numbers?
CI stands for Colour Index. These internationally recognised numbers identify the cosmetic colourants used to create the colours and patterns in our soaps.
